Course Description
Contemporary scholarship on issues in the anthropology of reproduction, including the relationship between production and reproduction and between the corporeal body and the body politic, the disciplinary power of the state, public controversies such as abortion and maternal-fetal conflict, and the symbolism and metaphors of procreation and parenthood. We will use "reproduction" as an analytic strategy to shed light on the cultural politics of gender, power, and sexuality.
