"It is impossible to overstate the cold-bloodedness and outright cruelty unleashed by ‘zero tolerance’. Images and audio recordings of youngsters forcibly separated from their parents are heart-rending, and more so because the vast majority of families are essentially refugees fleeing dire poverty or violence. These circumstances can often be linked to US-led policies over the past half-century."
