Notes
The present working paper discusses the ethical problems faced by bioarchaeologists in manipulating and analyzing scientific and museum collections of human mortuary remains. With the purpose of generating a benefit to modern society, the contribution to knowledge provided by the analysis of human skeletons, contrasts sharply with the limitations imposed by culture or religion; this is particularly notable in those countries that were characterized by a history of colonization and violent assimilation of autochthonous cultures.
